Made myself a big pot of vegetarian chili with roast root vegetables and lots of boiled beans. I haven't actually cooked for myself in awhile. I felt good. On Saturday, I went to the Victoria Winter Farmer's Market ( http://victoriapublicmarket.com/?p=445 ) which was lots of fun: local meat products and goat cheeses, preserves and marmalades, apple cider for a cause, a bake sale for Japan, wild harvested mushrooms, seedlings from local farms, winter vegetables and much more. I discovered much to my surprise that I actually quite like goat cheese, specifically every flavor of Chevre (soft, unripened) goat cheese made by Salt Spring Island Cheese.
On Sunday, I considered going to the monthly raw food potluck put on by VIVA-Raw (Vancouver Island Vegetarian Association http://vivaraw.rd123.ca/?page_id=6 ) but I just never seem to have the time. I will go one of these weeks, and I will bring a simple fruit or veggie salad until I can figure out how to cook this healthy i.e. where everything is vegan, raw, unprocessed, organic still-living-cells of mostly fruit and vegetables with fewer nuts/seeds, little salt, and not even any soy. This is the near extreme, militant style of healthy eating, as most of their “Don't” foods are on my list of alternative/health-foods. Maybe that is just another example of how I am not eating as healthy as I think I am. My seed trays are coming along nicely, I think it is almost time to begin hardening off the seedling by placing them outside during the daytime when it is warm.
